Bärenbrezel
The timeless flavors of the Bärenbrezel pretzel pay tribute to the centuries-old craft of German baking. Beginning with a unique sourdough, each pretzel is hand-rolled into a double twist then sliced at the base to create its characteristic grin. This recipe and rolling technique enhance the tangy crust and doughy texture that pretzel lovers have sought for generations.

The quest to create Bärenbrezel began in 1950s Brooklyn. There, a boy named Harris Golden discovered the piping-hot pretzels of the city’s street vendors. Harris’ childhood fascination became a passion project to create his own world-class pretzel. In 1995, after many years as an executive chef and cookbook author, Harris opened a pretzel bakery in National City, CA. Nearly three decades later, the Bärenbrezel was born. The delicious, hand-rolled Bärenbrezel is a combination of timeless Bavarian pretzel traditions and the fulfillment of a young man’s dream to create the perfect pretzel.
